US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said yesterday, Tuesday, that the United States is in talks with Israel and Egypt about providing safe passage for civilians in Gaza after Israeli air strikes that targeted residential areas.
Sullivan added, in a press conference at the White House, “We are focusing on this issue, and there are ongoing consultations, but its details are under discussion among the executive agencies, and I do not want to announce much about it publicly at the present time.”
The Israeli occupation army is intensifying its raids on the Gaza Strip for the fifth day in a row, leaving more than 900 martyrs and about 4,600 wounded, in addition to massive destruction in populated areas and a mass displacement in the coastal strip, which is 40 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide and is inhabited by 2.3 million people.
At dawn last Saturday, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas ), and other Palestinian factions in Gaza launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, in response to the continuing attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property, and their sanctities, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem .
The United Nations said that more than 180,000 Gazans have become homeless. Gazans have been living under a siege imposed by Israel for 16 years.
